Going Natural

I have always said I want to age gracefully.

My hair has always been quite dark, with a touch of red.  Well, I have decided to take the big leap of letting it go to its natural color.  I think it is about 50% salt and pepper right now, and I have to let the dye grow out.

So today my hairdresser and I decided to just go forward with light highlights to transition the change.

For many of us boomers, this is a big step.  We grew up with looking and feeling young. I still feel young, (usually after I have been up for an hour or so!!) and I don’t think the color of my hair should really make a difference.

I tried this a few years ago, just to go cold turkey with no transition color.  It really did age me.  But now I think it will fit with the wrinkles I have acquired.

Age is just a state of mind…

if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.

  1. I totally get it! I always said I wouldn’t use color either and am reminded of this by the hubs when I have to go for my “Living the Lie” appointment as he calls it. He wants to know what happened to me not doing color to which I laugh and tell him that I said this when I was only 20 years old and didn’t really know what I was talking about! Someday, but you’re right it’s a bigger decision than you would think, but then age is just a number — right?
